Outside or Inside?
In today's day and age people don't go out nearly as much as they used to. But is the result of this a positive or a negative result? Many people believe that people are doing what makes themselves happy by staying inside and others argue that people are much happier and healthier when they are outside. I believe that we don't spend enough time outside and the negative effects are hurting us more and more every day. Less and less people spend time outside every day and would rather stay inside and use their technology either to entertain themselves with video games or television, or by working all day on their computers. This is hurting all of these people that stay inside as they are not able or willing to get the exercise and state of mind that people who go outside have.
The negative physical effects of staying inside are multiple as individuals who stay inside are more likely to not get any exercise at all which can have drastic effects on one's body. By going outside people can get exercise from walking, running, biking or just throwing the football around. This can help people stay in shape and live longer and happier lives. The more exercise that one gets also improves one's self confidence by seeing positive changes from all of the exercise that they are participating in. The outside also has positive physical effects on you as well, as you will get the sun and fresh air that is needed in order for your body to function properly.
Mental health also improves drastically from going outside more frequently as one may see more natural beauty which can inspire someone to go out and travel to new places in order to experience and see more natural beauty. This allows for one's mind to unravel and experience the world's beauty as it is given to you without the effects of humans. Going outside also allows one's mind to relax and take in the beauty without having to worry about the stresses of everyday life. A lot of people are able to do this through going on nature hikes, stargazing or going to the beach. Experiencing nature has nothing but positive effects on people's mental health as it should. People have also reported that going outside and doing these activities has made them overall happier people as they were able to relax and overcome mental struggles which had prevented them from being happier individuals.
People who go outside are also more likely to connect with their ancestors as they could be living like how their ancestors had. This would be living in and embracing the nature around them in order to live calmer and happier lives. However, other people believe that they experience more happiness while staying inside and playing video games or watching television, but this is actually perfectly fine as people can still have fun inside and maintain going outside. Another effect that people are arguing is the negative effects that we are having on nature from going outside. This effect could be garbage, noise and other forms of pollution but these are very small compared to the positive effects that come from going outside, as people going outside also help preserve and help nature by watering plants, nature trails that preserve parks and many other acts that preserve the wildlife around the world.
Today's day and age is a crazy time and the amount of people staying inside is higher than ever. Nature is needed more than ever and by going out and experiencing it you can overall become a healthier and happier person. I believe that going outside is the right choice and based on all of the positive effects you get from going outside i would believe that it is the right one.
Hi Colby,
ReplyDeleteStarting off, I really liked your blog, you did a great job explaining your side of the argument. You did a great job of creating a sense of urgency by using lines like “nature is needed more than ever.” When it comes to the rubric, you use “clear expression with a range of language.” I didn’t see any major errors in your writing, some words could’ve been replaced with others to make the text flow easier. Task is fully achieved and your text is clearly organized. The audience is addressed and engaged pretty well. Overall, I’d give you a 17/25
Hello Colby, I like your article. You stayed clearly organized and stayed on task throughout. Your grammar was also done well along with having clear and effective expression with a range of language. You did well using more complex sentences and listing. For example, "walking, running, biking or just throwing the football around." This engages the audience and gives them activities that are relatable. Overall, Id give you 18/25
